The Minimum Time Is 60 Days, But It Usually Takes Longer.

The shortest period of time that you have to wait under current law to get a League City divorce is 60 days .  Legislators put that rule in effect to provide a cooling off period So people don't make rash decisions about getting a League City divorce .

However , that just reflects the statutory waiting period required by law . Usually League City divorces take anywhere from six months to a year . Some very complex and highly contested cases have taken 2 two years or more , but search a long time is very unusual.

From the date that the original petition is filed , the waiting period begins to countdown . That includes the counter petition if one is filed.
The waiting period is not required if the court finds that the respondent has been finally convicted of, or received deferred adjudication for, an offence involving family violence against the petitioner or a member of the petitioner’s household or if the petitioner has an active protective order or magistrates order for emergency protection based on a finding of family violence against the respondent because of family violence committed during the marriage.
